On 19th September 2021, The Rotary Club of Panvel Elite donated over 250 books comprising of notebooks, textbooks, picture drawing books to 70 kids spread over 2 slum clusters in Panvel and New Panvel aged between 3-15 years under Basic Education and Literacy focus area. The books were donated in association with Robin Hood Army who teach these kids every Sunday. The project was aptly named – Parivartan. We wanted to ensure that the books are not just donated but the education is also imparted. This is where the collaboration of Rotary Club of Panvel Elite and our on-field partner – Robin Hood Army for this project helped with efficient execution of this project. The books were collected from various individuals and organisation as a 2 weeks long donation drive with 7 books drop-off points was organised before distributing these books to the slum dwelling children. The beneficiary children living in these slums are deprived of education, health care, proper living conditions, etc. The Book donation was done to help these kids with their education. Among the books were notebooks for elementary school student, drawing books, Mathematics books, Science text books etc. Ann Durga Choudhary – wife of Rtn. Navin Choudhary and also part of Robin Hood Army led this project. The kids were delighted to have received these books. This project was featured in Rotary News Plus Magazine - March 2022 Issue (Page 22).
