Many of us are privileged to have a private bathroom in our homes and workspaces, but there are many in the tribal and rural areas of India who still defecate in rivers, buckets or behind the next bush. By doing this, they also make themselves vulnerable to several diseases such as diarrhoea and cholera. This issue becomes even more severe in Tribal Villages. RCC Borgaon Elite helped us to identify one such location – Virani Zilla Parishad School in Virani Village (situated at a height of more than 60 feet and one of our Happy Villages) where the toilet was in a dilapidated state and had to be destroyed. Rotary Club of Panvel Elite in association with Rotaract Club of Panvel Elite built a Toilet Block in Virani Village. This Toilet Block will serve school going students (Toilet has 2 different rooms for Gents and Ladies) as well as other villagers. This will also help the school to reduce the absentees. The Toilet Block construction started on 7th April 2022. The work is now completed and the club will be inaugurating it in the first week of July 2022. Funds required for this project were partly sponsored by Rotaract Club of Panvel Elite, Members of Rotary Club of Panvel Elite and from Club Funds.
