One of the common scenarios witnessed in India is that the amount of recognition, acknowledgement, appreciation and the hype received by the Indian athletes representing our country at the Olympics leaves a lot to be desired as compared to some of the other popular sports. Years of laborious training put in by the athletes just to get qualified for the Olympics seeks our encouragement. The least we can do is extend our full-fledged support to our talented athletes. In order to boost the morale of Indian contingent representing India at Tokyo Olympics, Rotary Club of Panvel Elite and Rotaract Club of Belgaum South initiated a mega Tokyo Olympics Awareness drive named – Cheer for India. One of the main goals of this video was to get Indians to cheer for our athletes so that they receive the recognition and viewership that they so thoroughly deserve. The video which was launched on 19th July 2021 went viral and reached more than 1 million people on Facebook. This video represented Rotary India standing together to support the Indian Athletes at the Tokyo Olympics. It featured one club each from all the states and UTs in India where Rotary is present thereby making it Rotary India's biggest Online Public Image project ever and one of the unique Synergy Project which saw participation from one club from all the States and Union Territories of India. This project was also appreciated by Rotary International President Rtn. Shekhar Mehta who also participated in this project. In addition to this, it was featured in Rotary News Plus Magazine - August 2021 Issue (Page 31).
