Owning and wearing shoes to school is a common thing for students studying in schools located in Cities and towns. However, it is still far-fetched thought for many students living in tribal villages. One such village is Telore – a tribal village located in Pen. With the help of our RCC – Rotary Community Corps Borgaon Elite, we found that students studying in the Zilla Parishad School in Telore Village would walk bare foot for more than 2 kms from their house. This situation gets even more worrisome during summer when the temperature crossed 40 degrees Celsius. That being said, Rotary Club of Panvel Elite raised funds through its member’s network and donated 150 pair of new slippers to students on 13th March 2022. When we had gone to implement this project on 13th March 2022, we found it difficult to even stay outdoors for a few minutes in the scorching heat and then we realized how difficult it must be for students who walk bare foot to the school.
