Plastic, glass and metal waste are some of the largest contributors to landfills around the world. Landfills are problems because they can leak harmful chemicals, are unsightly, take up a lot of room, affect aquatic life and most importantly are environmental hazards. A lot of old things are thrown away and are never seen again. That’s where recycling comes in. The need of the hour is Environmental conservation. On that line, Rotary Club of Panvel Elite launched plastic, metal and glass waste collection drive on 08th August 2021. Over 23kg of waste was collected from our club members and their friends and families and sent to be recycled in Thane City of Maharashtra. We partnered with Samarth Bharat Vyaspeeth and Thane Municipal Corporation who have a recycling plant set up in Thane. We also aim to start an e-waste collection drive in the near future. This project was featured in Rotary News Plus Magazine - November 2021 Issue (Page 16 and Page 17).
