Several cities and villages in Raigad region of Maharashtra were recently affected by the devastating floods in the last week of July 2021. Some areas were submerged as deep as 10 feet under water thereby causing massive destruction to the infrastructure and lives of the residents. Many governmental and non-governmental organisations came to the rescue of the affected population. People in remote villages are hit the hardest by natural disaster. The infrastructure is impacted and they don’t have access to necessary supplies. On that lines, Rotary Club of Panvel Elite, through the help of need analysis done by the local hospital staff of our Non-rotary partner – Yusuf Meherali Trust identified that the affected population in Mahad and Chiplun areas needed medicines and sanitary pads for women to tackle the water-borne disease that were caused due to Floods. On that lines, Rotary Club of Panvel Elite donated 2500 Sanitary Pads and medicines worth Rs. 40,000 on 02nd August 2021. The donations were sent through our non-rotary partner – Yusuf Meherali Trust, Panvel who already have a local hospital in the flood affected region. The medicine and sanitary pads supplies were sponsored by club members – Rtn. Dr. Shailashree Kelkar, Rtn. Manjushree Patwardhan, Rtn. Dr. Swati Likhite, Rtn. Suniti Dixit, Rtn. Prasad Dixist and Mr. Nimesh Kanabar (Friend of Rtn. Dr. Swati Likhite). This project was featured in Rotary News Plus Magazine - November 2021 Issue (Page 16)
