According to statistics, almost 14.5% of India’s 1.3 billion population is undernourished. And this situation becomes even more exaggerated in tribal areas. While a lot of us are blessed to choose the kind of cuisine we want to have, a lot of people in tribal villages of India struggle to even feed themselves on a regular basis. After having researched and recognized the needy tribal areas, Rotary Club of Panvel Elite carried out food donation drive at a tribal village near Pen on 17th February, 2019. About 90 kg rice, 45 kg Tur Dal, 45 kg salt and washing soap and bathing soap were donated to the villagers. About 90 villagers benefited from this donation drive. It gave us immense pleasure and satisfaction to witness the smiles on the faces of these villagers. We, at Rotary Club of Panvel Elite hope to continue to identify and serve these needy areas.
