They say Service to humanity is service to god. One of the aspects of serving society is spending time with orphans and elderly people who are deprived of an opportunity to spend their lives with their family for various reasons. That being said, Rotary Club of Panvel Elite organized a food distribution drive on 19th July, 2018 at Karuneshwar Ashram near Ritghar which houses about 35 elderly, Janakalyan Sevashram near Palaspe which houses about 23 elderly and 42 destitute children and Balgram in New Panvel which houses about 24 orphans. Roughly 225 food packets were distributed to the visited places by Rotarians of Rotary Club of Panvel Elite in memory of Late. Sarasbai Manakchandji Munot – Mother of Rtn. Manoj Munot and grand-mother of Rtn. Raj Munot. It turned out to be a humbling, eye-opening and an emotional experience for all the Rotarians, Anns and Annets who volunteered for this project. It was heart-warming to see the smiles and happiness on the faces of orphans and elderly but in some cases also saddening to know their life stories. These Ashrams are doing a noble job and serving the society by housing and caring for these needy. We were glad to see even a person of almost 100 years of age being looked after with so much of affection and respect. We feel privileged to extend a small helping hand towards these people who also like all of us deserve love and attention and their smiles after seeing us definitely told many things. The fact that the orphans want us to visit them again and cherished the time we spent with them only makes us proud to be part of Rotary International.
