As the winter arrives, so does our attractive and stylish woollen clothes. However, some amongst us don’t even have the privilege of owning clothes to protect their bodies to endure chilly testing conditions of winter. This point becomes even more critical when it comes to rural areas. In order to tackle this problem to some extent, Rotary Club of Panvel Elite carried out clothes and blankets donation drive in Virani School located in the tribal village of Virani, Pen, Maharashtra on 19th November, 2017. This clothes distribution drive was a follow up to our ambitious cloth bank project. An overwhelming response to the previous similar clothes donation drive carried out at Village Borgaon prompted us to execute a similar cloth distribution in other tribal villages in its vicinity. Children of the village were given a new pair of clothes on account of Children’s Day. Furthermore, blankets were also distributed to the villagers to help them cover their bodies to endure the chilly weather during winters. In addition to it, Rotarians, Anns and Annettes of Rotary Club of Panvel accumulated their used clothing and also those of their neighbours which were still in wearable condition but were not being used anymore. These clothes were then segregated into separate categories for men, women and children to ensure better organization and easy distribution. Clothes were distributed to about 300 residents of and around the village. The point that made this project impactful was the fact that this tribal village was untouched by any other Rotary Club around the area thereby expanding the reach of Rotary.
