Travelling on a two-wheeler or a four-wheeler machine is a very common thing for students studying in urban areas. However, some of the school-going students, living in rural and tribal areas, having the desire to acquire knowledge, have to struggle week in and week out to even make their way to the school. These students have to walk 4-5 km daily to reach their school. In order to lend a helping hand to make their journey of acquiring knowledge relatively easier, Rotary Club of Panvel Elite donated 32 cycles to students staying in village Yeloshi, Borgaon and other nearby villages in Pen, Maharashtra on 19th November 2017. Rotary Club of Panvel Elite collected unused and abandoned cycles from their own housing societies, people living in nearby vicinities and others who were willing to donate cycles which they no longer needed. These cycles were then repaired to an extent of being usable and were then donated to the students of the aforementioned villages. The cost of the repair of these 32 cycles was borne partly by the club and some of its members. What made the day special was the smile that this project could bring on the faces of students. We truly believe that education and learning go a long way in the progress of a country and a village and this was one of the numerous contributions by Rotary Club of Panvel Elite towards a “Happy Village”.
